President Rene Preval The importance of dialogue is a topic that recently sworn in President Rene Preval has raised repeatedly. Haitians are masters of the gift of gab....talking, joking, arguing, debating. But what is the difference between a conversation and a dialogue? Both are ongoing...perhaps a dialogue is a conversation in search of a resolution. Read more »

By Matt Marek on Mardi, mai 9, 2006.

During the past 60 hours over 20 Haitian children in Port-au-Prince received some of the best medical care from Dr. John Ragheb and his visiting team from Miami Children’s Hospital. I'm just coming in from visiting numerous voting polls in Port-au-Prince where UN sources tell me the numbers are as low as 8 to 15% voter turnout. Not a line to wait in at any polling station and election workers with their heads down on the voting tables. NGO Spotlight: Konbit Sante

By Bryan Schaaf on Dimanche, avril 9, 2006.

KonbitSante Each of the members of Haiti Innovation's Board of Directors was a Peace Corps Volunteer. Each of us had rewarding experiences, alike in some ways and different in the others. For us, it was an opportunity to become familiar with another culture intimately, to learn another language fluently, and to work side by side with out Haitian counterparts on projects with the potential to change a community for the better. We learned about Haiti, and through us, Haitians learned about the United States and Americans. Read more »

By Anonymous on Dimanche, avril 2, 2006.

HOPE bill Last week, Haiti's President-elect, Rene Preval, visited Washington, DC in an attempt to bolster support for US backed aid packages during his second term. Relief to Development

By Bryan Schaaf on Dimanche, mars 26, 2006.

chasmThe United States receives a bad wrap when it comes to development assistance. Statistics are frequently batted around that show the United States as being one of the least generous industrialized countries. I have yet to see figures that include the donations of Americans to non profit organizations. Read more »
